Groundwater Sustainability Plans

In response to a state law enacted in 2014 – the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) – a roadmap for how groundwater will be managed over the next two decades will be finalized this year. The goal is to balance the amount of groundwater pumped with the amount that is replenished each year by nature or humans. Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) must be adopted and submitted to the State by January 31, 2022.

GSP Development

The Tehama County Flood Control and Water Conservation District received funding through a Department of Water Resources Proposition 1 grant to develop Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) for the Bowman, Red Bluff, Antelope, and Los Molinos Subbasins. The District received additional grant funding under Proposition 68 to be used for the Antelope, Red Bluff, and Los Molinos Subbasins.

The District selected a consultant team lead by Luhdorff & Scalmanini Consulting Engineers to develop the four Groundwater Sustainability Plans for submittal to Department of Water Resources by January 31, 2022.
